Tatort-Zukunft is an organization from Germany, which has started in 2018. In Germany, “Tatort Zukunft” means “Crime scene future”. The goal of the organization is to build a connection between the inmates and society. They devote themselves to designing different course plans to make prisoners and college students learn together. Besides, they also train law students as consultants to provide law clinics to prisoners and their families.
Through innovative education, prisoners are able to gain knowledge. Every semester has a different topic, such as fashion, law or sports, etc. They would learn in a seminar to exchange their thoughts. On one hand, it could reduce the loneliness of prisoners; on the other hand, students who study law and criminology would have the chance to experience reality in prison.
To sum up, what Tatort-Zukunft has done not only changes the students’ image of the prisoners but also makes the prisoners contact the outside world. In the future, Julian Knop hopes to expand his project to more varieties of people of different ages to facilitate the possibility to learn from others. “After release, they all might become our neighbors; thus, what we should put stress on is how to make them better adapt to society.”
